The homeopathy debate

I know this is a sensitive topic, but I think it's worth discussing honestly. I've used homeopathic remedies on and off for years, and I genuinely feel they've helped me. But I also understand the scientific criticism.

What bothers me is that the debate tends to be black and white. Either you're "anti-science" for using homeopathy, or you're "closed-minded" for questioning it. Can't we have a nuanced conversation about it?

I'd especially like to hear from practitioners: how do you navigate this in your work? Do clients ask about the evidence base?

Thank you for bringing this up in such a balanced way, Katharina. In my practice, I'm always transparent with clients. Some homeopathic remedies overlap with phytotherapy and have measurable effects. Others rely more on the therapeutic relationship and the placebo response — which, by the way, is a real physiological phenomenon, not "nothing." I think intellectual honesty and client safety should guide the conversation.

I appreciate this kind of honest discussion. Personally, I tried homeopathy for my back pain and didn't notice any effect. But my wife swears by Arnica for bruises. I've settled on: if it works for you and doesn't replace necessary medical treatment, go for it.

Finally someone asks this openly! I think the biggest risk isn't homeopathy itself but people using it INSTEAD of proven treatments for serious conditions. That's where practitioners have a real responsibility to be clear about boundaries.

Interesting thread. I don't use homeopathy myself but I respect people's right to choose. What I don't respect is practitioners who make claims they can't back up or who discourage clients from seeing doctors. That's where the line should be drawn, in my opinion.
