My first acupuncture experience

I finally went for my first acupuncture session last week and wanted to share my experience for anyone who's curious but nervous (like I was).

The practitioner started with a thorough intake — pulse diagnosis, tongue examination, questions about my diet and lifestyle. Then came the needles. Honestly? I barely felt most of them. A few had a slight tingling sensation, but nothing painful.

I went in for tension headaches and after just one session, I noticed a difference. My shoulders felt looser and I slept better that night. I'm booked for a follow-up next week.

Anyone else tried acupuncture? How many sessions before you noticed consistent results?

Great to hear you had a positive first experience, David! For tension headaches, most of my patients notice significant improvement within 4-6 sessions. Consistency is key — try to keep weekly appointments for the first month. The cumulative effect is where the real magic happens.

I was so scared of the needles before my first session! Now I actually look forward to it. It's become my weekly reset. For me it took about 3 sessions to feel a real difference with my back pain.

I had a similar experience! The pulse and tongue diagnosis felt very different from what I was used to. It's like they see your body as a whole system, not separate parts. Glad it's working for you.
